KLEIN 2023
Lacquered solid ash and oiled white oak. Named for the historic, obsessive, pursuit of idealism, pigment, and beauty of artist Yves Klein. Fueled by the mesmerizing color of custom-made ultramarine blue pigment, in 1958, French citizen Klein wrote a letter to then US President Dwight Eisenhower entitled ‘The Blue Revolution’, in which he requested that he and his friends take over the French government for three years to transform French People’s ‘thinking and acting’. Eisenhower declined.
The strict, orthogonal geometry of the Klein chair is softened with a simple curvature of the seat and complex curvature of the backrest, opening up a proper angle for a comfortable back support. All intersections of components of the chair are delineated with softened edges to create visual separation and allow each part of the chair its own emphasis.
